Meet Rebecca -  Educator, Coach, Mentor

Rebecca is a lifelong learner and educator who has studied at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!), Dartmouth College, and Indiana University Bloomington, where she earned a dual Ph.D. in American Studies and Curriculum Studies. Her research explores the intersection of adolescence and activism.

Rebecca currently coaches essay writing, teaches 11th and 12th grade English, and continues her own professional learning through coursework in the Philadelphia Teaching Fellows program. She is also a mother to two teenagers. An active educator and scholar, Rebecca brings that same intellectual curiosity and joy for learning into every tutoring session.

Rebecca is also experienced at supporting student learning at all levels. She has taught in both Ivy League graduate programs and public and private high school classrooms. She is especially adept at working with students who have specialized social-emotional needs.

As an educator, Rebecca's greatest strength lies in recognizing each student’s unique gifts and helping them shape their words to reveal their personal brilliance. She finds joy in college essay coaching because it allows her to bring together all of her passions — teaching, writing, storytelling, and helping students grow into their voices.
